Meet our Pet Crew
Blankets & Bowls is really not about us and who we are, it's more about ‘all of us’. How we all together can make a difference, provide some comfort and advocate for the many of thousands that need us. Here’s just a little bit about the people and their ‘best friend’ companions behind the scenes.
Without these great friends below, none of this would be possible. Without those who have said 'I'd like to help', none of this would be possible. Without people who donate, help collect, sort and distribute, none of this would be possible. Without you, none of this would be possible. Thank you to everyone who stops to help.

Meet Barbara
Barbara has always loved animals and every stray cat or dog seems to know where to find her when they needed a home. She started adopting and fostering when she lived in Virginia volunteering at the VBSPCA. She adopted her Tabbie from the VBSPCA. After moving to Boston she adopted another little disabled kitten, Maddie from the MSPCA where she volunteers as a foster for kittens and cats until they are old enough for adoption or have special needs. She is also known to have fostered a few doggies too. Her passion is to help spread the word about the importance of spay, neuter and adoption. She is wonderful at gathering all sorts of items for the animals in need.
Meet Lisa & Sugar
After the loss of her best buddy 'Abbie' back in July 2009, Lisa knew she wanted to rescue and so began the process of learning what was happening with our pet over-population. She looked for many labbie-mixes and wanted to rescue a black dog, but when she saw the cutest face ever, she inquired. Two weeks later, Sugar was on a transport from TN to be fostered. One week after her arrival, Sugar was adopted! Lisa and Sugar live in CT where they do a lot of gardening, mostly for others. They love to go for walks, hikes and bike rides and extra time is spent trying to help the many others in need. Lisa has worked with wildlife care by fostering and rehabilitating many species to release them back into nature. Lisa has been a foster to all sorts of animals; squirrels, woodpeckers and doves.
Meet Meg
Meg grew up surrounded by animals of every kind. She has had many rescue dogs, including Zoe whom she had into adulthood with her family. After the passing of Zoe, and many requests from her children for another dog, they brought home 'Charlie' for the family. Then this past Christmas (2011) while making donations to a local Rescue organization they adopted 'Gracie' from the SPCA in Charleston. The Lagares family knows and understands how important animals are in their lives. Meg lives in Mt. Pleasant, SC with her husband, two children, Jordi and Sofia, and their canine best friends, Charlie and Gracie.
